Auto crash: It’s a miracle I survived —Oshiomhole

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State yesterday, said that it is a miracle that he survived the impact of an auto crash along the Benin-Abuja road on December 28, last year.
Speaking during a special thanksgiving mass to celebrate his survival, the governor said it was God’s mercy that saw him and the other occupants survive the direct impact of a bus which hit his car and completely destroyed it.
Reflecting on the scriptures in Psalms 127:1 which says, “Unless the Lord watches the city, the watchmen wake but in vain,” Oshiomhole said: “The essence of today’s occasion is to give testimony to the fact that when we buy armoured vehicles, we are only thinking about enemies who might choose to use firearms to fire at their enemies. But as I saw on December 28, even the armoured vehicle is not sufficient to protect the vehicle itself from being hit in an accident.
“The real armour is the armour that God provides when we submit to his will. It cannot be procured by money, it cannot be procured by the most potent arms makers. Only God can armour us against evil.
“We had a serious accident and the armoured vehicle was destroyed. None of us who were in the vehicle suffered any injury. As you can see, we all came out of the armoured car unhurt, alive. The armoured car is off the road, but we the ordinary people covered by the Blood of Jesus, survived it.
“I pledge to re-dedicate myself to the services of the people of this great state. For the remaining time that I have, I will do as God directs me to continue to use the instrument of governance to deliver the greatest good to our citizens.”
Speaking in a homily at the service, the Archbishop of Benin Archdiocese, Most Rev. Augustine Akubeze, said there was need for people to always thank God for his kindness and mercies in their daily lives and activities.
“In a special way, we are gathered in a thanksgiving service to God for saving the life of Governor Adams Oshiomhole and his entourage in an unfortunate car accident involving his convoy. We thank the Lord for averting the evil that could have happened and for keeping him far from bodily harm. It is a good thing to thank the Lord for his mercies and protection.
“We are grateful to God for sparing the life of the governor and for the good works he’s doing in Edo State. We thank the governor for putting the people first in everything and that is what good governance is all about.
We thank him for the developmental initiatives that have become synonymous with his administration
“We thank the governor for staying focused and allowing God to use you for the good of Edo people. We pray that God will bless and keep you. It is our prayer that God Almighty will always be your companion, strengthen you when you are weak, instruct you when you need direction, correct you when you err and help you to lead your people according to the divine plan and purpose.”
