1. Fruits should be taken on an empty stomach together with other fruits: It is believed that eating fruits an hour or two before a meal will ensure that all the nutrients in the fruit is absorbed at a fast rate and used by the body. Dr. Wise Chukwudi Letsa, a dietician at the Trust Hospital in Accra clarified, fruits can be eaten anytime.
2. Fruits should be taken as fresh as possible: The longer they stay after they are harvested, the more they lose their antioxidant content.
Cooked fruits turn to lose their vitamins in them, so instead, take them in their fresh state. Good for your immune system, is fresh fruits, which contains high levels of vitamin C.
3. Could be taken before or after meals: According to some schools of thought, fruits eaten right after meals, causes the food to rot and also produces gas which makes you fart. But Dr. Wise Chukwudi Letsa explained, “this is a myth, the stomach secretes hydrochloric acid which works on any food or fruit that enters the stomach”, adding fruits eaten before or after meals move through the digestive tract hence cannot get rotten at a particular place in the digestive system.
4. Take the whole fruit instead of the juice: Juice has nutrients, but lacks fibre. Fruits such as bananas and apples contain soluble fibre, which helps in digestion.
5. Fruit fast: Eating fruits exclusively for some few days can go a long way to detoxify your system and help you lose weight. You can take banana, pear and apples to start with. Take some break of the junk food and concentrate on some fruits to improve your health.
6.Time to take: First thing in the morning or in between meals like breakfast and lunch. Doing so will help you maintain the right weight, grow healthy and have a beautiful skin.

Banana
Naturally free from fat and sodium, bananas are pure enough to serve as a baby’s first solid meal. They are also known to be good for the heart. Some vitamins found in them include vitamin A, B6 and C.
Pineapples
Pineapples are a rich source of vitamins A and C, fibre, calcium and potassium. Want to have healthy gum sand strong bones? Then remember to take some pineapples. The vitamin C content in pineapple is also beneficial in fighting the viruses that cause coughs and colds. You can also take some when you have already been infested with a catarrh.
Orange
Contains vitamins A, B, C, folic acid, calcium, phosphorous and potassium. Oranges are good for cold. When you have a cold, just increase your intake of oranges, which will go a long way to reduce the flow of mucus from the nose.
Water Melon
Watermelon is a good source of vitamin A and C, vitamin-B6 (pyridoxine), and flavonoids. Boosts your eyesight and immunity.
Thirsty? Try some watermelons during the day. It’s a source of water to quench your thirst. The seeds can be roasted and chewed as a snack.
Guava
It is rich in fibre and vitamin C. The citrus content in guava is four to five times more than what is found in other fruits. Eating one guava a day can boost your immune system.
Pawpaw
It has a rich source of fibre, which helps in bowel movement and helps in reducing constipation. Fresh ripped pawpaw is rich in vitamin C and A.
Pear
Pear contains vitamins B, E and K. These vitamins play a key role in giving your skin a nice colour, growing your bones and metabolism processes. Both soluble and insoluble fibre is found in pear. It also contains unsaturated fat which helps to lessen the amount of cholesterol in the blood.
